Often you may find it difficult to remove the onion smell from vessels, no matter how thoroughly you wash them, especially after preparing dishes like masala curries.
You may realize the same when you make some other dish in the same vessel. For example, while making payasam in a vessel in which an onion curry was made. Don’t worry, here are a few tips to get rid of the onion smell from utensils completely:
Lemon juice is effective in eliminating the smell of onions from utensils. For this, squeeze the lemon juice into a bowl of water.
Dip and keep the smelly utensils in this lemon water, overnight. You can wash this bowl thoroughly the next day and get rid of the smell of onion.
Cinnamon not only adds a beautiful aroma to various dishes but also helps in removing the odour caused by food residues. For this, take some cinnamon and boil it in some water. Allow it to cool down.
Take this water in a large vessel and dip the foul-smelling vessels into it. After keeping them overnight, wash them off in the morning. Your vessels are rid of the foul smell!
Baking soda and water
Baking soda is very effective in absorbing foul odour. It can neutralize the onion odour in the utensils. For this, mix the soda in water and make a paste.
Apply this paste on smelly utensils. After applying it for half an hour, wash the utensils. The odour is gone!
Keep some coffee powder inside the smelly vessel. The pungent smell of coffee powder will neutralize the odour of onions.
White vinegar has powerful cleaning and deodorizing properties. For this, fill a vessel with an equal amount of white vinegar and water.
Soak the foul-smelling vessels in this solution and keep them for 15 to 30 minutes. Then take out these utensils and wash them thoroughly in clean water. Make sure to store them only after being thoroughly dried.
